We can’t wait to welcome you back to our Aspire Lounges! And we know you’re keen to get back in lounges, so we thought we should give you an update on what we’ve been doing in recent weeks.
We here in the Aspire Lounges Team have been busy planning and putting new COVID-19 health and safety measures in place across our lounges to help keep you and our employees safe for when we re-open.
This work has included reviewing government guidelines, working with Health and Safety professionals from within the business and working closely with airport authorities.
Aspire Lounges re-opening measures (COVID-19)
Due to COVID-19 and the measures we are having to implement across our lounge network, things in Aspire Lounges will be a little different for a while.
You can expect to see a number of changes in lounges for the foreseeable future at re-opening, including:
Self-service check in (where possible)
Reduced capacity in lounges
Table service instead and/or assisted buffet service
We’ve had to reduce our menu offering to a low contact menu
Increased cleaning schedule
3 alcoholic drinks limit per person, per visit across UK & Irish lounges
No physical newspapers or magazines in the lounge, this service has now been replaced with PressReader, providing our lounge guests with access to over 7,000 titles digitally. To find out more about PressReader in Aspire and Club Aspire Lounges, click here.
We will evaluate each of these measures as the guidance around COVID-19 is updated and as this global pandemic evolves.
Details of the updated lounge menus can be found on each lounge’s landing page on this website, or by clicking the below links. Please be advised, these menus will be updated as this situation evolves and are subject to change.
You can also see a full allergens list for the new post-COVID-19 Aspire Lounge menu here.
If you would like to see the COVID-19 health and safety measures in action, watch the below video which was shot at the London Heathrow Terminal 5 Club Aspire Lounge, one fo the first in our network to reopen in a COVID-19 world.
COVID-19 Cleaning Schedules
Throughout the Aspire and Club Aspire Lounges, increased cleaning schedules will be put in place at re-opening using a Microbe Shield formula.
This cleaning product not only kills a number of pathogens, including Coronavirus, on contact but also provides protection against surface contamination for up to 30 days, even after deep cleaning, using Lysis technology.
This product has Boeing and Airbus approval, is hypoallergenic and is food safe. Applied as a fine mist, the product is dry and active in 15 minutes.
The science behind the cleaning
This Microbe Shield has been developed and tested to attack and kill a number of virus and germ pathogens on contact.
The product has been tested on the Coronavirus genus and has also proved to be effective against a number of other pathogens including E.coli, Staph, MRSA, H1N1, MERS and Norovirus.
The product is water based, 100% food safe, environmentally friendly and once dried, bonds with surfaces to provide a long-lasting protection against bacteria, fungi, mould, yeast and viruses. The product is invisible to the naked eye, colourless and is quick and easy to apply.
Lounge re-opening dates
We're currently working with airport and airline partners to determine when is the right time to once again re-open the doors to our lounges. We are hoping to start re-opening the doors to the first wave of lounges in mid-July. Each lounge's re-opening date will be announced individually via our website and lounge pages, Aspire Lounges mailing list and across our social media channels.
Aspire Lounges Group bookings
Please be advised, if you are trying to make a group booking for an Aspire Lounge over the coming weeks, in accordance with government guidance, our Customer Service team members may ask you to clarify who makes up your party.
Group bookings for lounges should not, at this time, be made up of more than two households. This is in accordance with government advice that indoor gatherings should only be occurring in groups of up to two households (including support bubbles).
We may update this policy as government advice changes over coming weeks and months. We will share updates on this via our website, emails and on social media platforms.
Do I need to wear a face covering in the airport lounge?
Each lounge’s policy will differ slightly depending on the airport lounge you are visiting. Some airports request all customers travelling through the airport should wear face masks at all times, others only advise this, and some airports do not state a preference on this.
When in the lounge at seated at your table, you do not need to wear a face covering to allow you to eat and drink comfortably.
If you are unsure whether you will be asked to wear a face covering when travelling through the airport and visiting the lounge, please contact the airport you are departing from for clarification.
We’ll see you soon…
