If you are an experienced business traveller, then we are sure that you are pro when it comes to navigating your way around a busy airport terminal. If not and you are new to the world of business travel, then these airport hacks will hopefully make your journey a stress-free experience.
Organisation is key!
A lot of business trips are often short in time, your days are filled with endless meetings, working lunches and never-ending phone calls. To ensure the trip is worthwhile travellers should be sure they are well organised pre-trip. Who knows, if your organisation skills are on point you may be able to mix business with pleasure and have time to fit in some sightseeing.
Before you travel
Packing the night before you are due to catch your flight is a must. We do this before a holiday in the sunshine, so a business trip should be no different. Check over your agenda and pack accordingly. Here are some of the most packed business-related items when travelling on an aeroplane:
- Travel Documents; passport, boarding passes, visas
- Laptop and laptop charger
- On the go charging equipment
- Mobile phone and charger
- Pen drive / hard drive
Arriving at the airport
Arrive in plenty of time! There is nothing worse than snoozing your alarm so many times you only have 10 minutes to leave the house. It starts your day off in the wrong way and the likelihood is you will forget something important. An aeroplane ready to depart waits for nobody – not even the regular business traveller!
Check in online before you travel, if it is possible. This means you miss those busy queues at check in/security allowing time for a bite to eat and a chance to go over those last-minute notes for the meeting ahead.
Again, if possible, only take carry-on luggage as this allows for a quick exit once your plane lands at your destination.
Hopefully you have packed with security checks in mind, pre-removed any liquid and put them into a clear plastic zip up bag. Most airlines only allow liquids in 100ml bottles for security reasons. You will want to take any large electrical items such as laptops or hair straighteners out of your bag before joining the line at security. Remember, organisation is key.
In the departure lounge
You have made it to the departures lounge. Yes, it is probably extremely busy and yes it looks like there are no seats and you will have to balance a laptop on your knee whilst trying to open a sorry looking processed breakfast sandwich.
However, there is another option…
This is where we come in. With 18 Aspire Lounges situated across the UK it is likely you will be stood in a departure terminal with an Aspire Lounge just around the corner from you.
If this is not your first business trip the chance is, you will have pre-booked your lounge access via ExecutiveLounges.com. If not, don’t worry as you can access on the day (this is a little more expensive than pre-booking). Simply head to the lounge of your choice and our friendly Aspire Lounge staff will take care of the rest.
Selected Aspire Lounges have work booths which is your office away from the office. Personal charging points, high rise work stations, quiet zones for confidential calls and free Wi-Fi as standard. So, if it is proof-reading your presentation, sending last minute emails or hopefully planning that day of sightseeing between meetings, this is an ideal escape from a busy airport.
Enjoy a selection of hot breakfast items such as bacon, sausage, vegetarian sausages and scrambled eggs. If you are a lunchtime traveller you can indulge in delicious deli counter, cheese boards or enjoy a light meal option such as pasta, curry or rice dishes.
