Top 5 Honeymoon Destinations

Often the same places pop up on these kind of lists, so we thought we would take a look at some of the often overlooked destinations and illustrate why they’re perfect for your honeymoon.

Edinburgh, Scotland

Usually linked to stag nights and hen dos, Edinburgh might not strike you as the most romantic of honeymoon destinations. However, look a little deeper and you’ll find amazing things to explore, great places to eat, and even better places to stay. The city is full of boutique hotels and quaint little B&Bs, perfect for couples who enjoyed a rustic and chic wedding.

Discover Arthur’s Seat, ghost tours, Michelin star restaurants, the Royal mile, Edinburgh castle and an abundance of local whiskey, a truly Scottish way to celebrate the start of your marriage. As the capital of Scotland, you can immerse yourselves in the rich and wonderful history of the city, taking home a haggis as a souvenir.

Montego Bay, Jamaica

Slightly warmer than Scotland, we don’t mind admitting, but just as beautiful and with just as many activities to experience. Take in the beautiful scenery of Dunn’s River Falls or Hope Botanical Gardens. You could even try your hand on one of their world-class golf courses or do a spot of duty-free shopping.

Fall in love all over again with some of Jamaica’s most traditional cuisine, from curried goat to ackee to salt fish. It’s a little different from the cooler climate and rolling green scenery of Edinburgh, but perfect for those couples who want something tropical and exotic. Montego comes with its own deep cultural history, with sugar cane plantations and Rose Hall. The city was also used in Live and Let Die, a James Bond film from 1973.

Montreal, Canada

Pinned as Canada’s cultural capital, Montreal is the perfect destination for those couples really looking to submerge themselves into the history and characteristics of the city. With a range of theatres, radio stations, and the Montreal Orchestra.

This really is a beautiful city with a whole host of things to do and experience, especially the architecture and design. Why not try visiting all 36 churches for a real culture journey? If you chose to have a church wedding, it might bring back all those recent memories.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates

With fantastic weather, extravagant buildings, and an extremely interesting and rich culture, Dubai is one of our more luxurious choices for a honeymoon destination. If you’re looking for somewhere with a range of activities (golf, cricket, film festivals, shopping, just to name a few), delicious food (you could even go during the Dubai Food Festival!), and amazing scenery, Dubai is the right destination for your honeymoon.

Some of our favourite activities for honeymooners include a high-adrenaline ride over the dunes; taking in the sights and smells of the spice markets; and dancing the night away in one of Dubai’s clubs.

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Home to the Malaysian king, Kuala Lumpur makes for an extremely regal and lavish honeymoon, especially those looking for a real experience of the finer things in life. The city has similar architecture and design to Dubai, but boasts beautiful parks, such as the Lake Gardens and Kuala Lumpur Bird Park.

The city is also full of great cultural hotspots, from the National Museum to the National Art Gallery, so it’s perfect for those couples looking for a little learning and education on their honeymoon. It’s not all facts and figures, however. Kuala Lumpur has a large choice of exquisite restaurants for you and your loved one to enjoy.
